What is Qigong?
Qigong, also spelled "chi kung," is a traditional Chinese practice that involves physical movements, breathing techniques, and meditation. It is an ancient practice that has been used for thousands of years in China to promote health, healing, and spiritual development.
The word "qigong" is made up of two Chinese characters: "qi," which means "life force energy," and "gong," which means "skill or practice." Qigong is therefore a practice of cultivating and directing one's life force energy for the purpose of improving health, wellbeing, and spiritual awareness.
Qigong involves a series of gentle movements and postures, combined with deep breathing and visualization techniques. The movements are often slow and flowing, and are designed to help circulate energy throughout the body and stimulate the flow of qi. Qigong can be practiced standing, sitting, or lying down, and can be adapted to suit individual needs and abilities.
